LARMAGAZINE was an interactive magazine in app format focusing on international contemporary art. It started in 2009 as a PDF hosted on the issuu platform. Initially conceived as a strategy to better showcase the portfolios produced and uploaded to the LivingArtRoom website (the predecessor project aimed at uploading complete portfolios to connect with various industry agents such as gallery owners, curators, promoters, etc.), it later evolved to an interactive app magazine. This expanded the scope beyond featuring artists solely from the website to encompass talents from all corners of the world. It allowed me to connect with several of my idols and discover incredible new artists whom I might not have encountered otherwise. In this groundbreaking initiative, we infused interactive features and movement into the covers, included numerous images for each artist by incorporating photo galleries, and even integrated interactive games, each somehow commenting on the main theme of each edition. For instance, for "Censorship vs. Opportunism," we developed a hangman game where users had to guess the names of contemporary artists whose freedom and lives had been threatened at some point in history due to their remarks. In the "Paranormal in Art" edition, we created an interactive Ouija board, and for the "Ephemeral in Art" edition, we designed a kind of kaleidoscope that responded to the iPad's gyroscope. In total, we published 38 complete editions, concurrently releasing a Pocket edition optimized for viewing on smartphones. In these editions, we divided the content into weekly segments. We were invited to showcase the magazine at major fairs such as ArtBasel, Art Basel Miami Beach, ARTBO, Zona MACO, ARCOmadrid, ArteBA, La Otra, and Odeon in Bogotá. In the final stage, we decided to transition the content and assemble the magazine as a website for greater reach. However, the costs proved to be overwhelming, and the web format didn't quite capture the essence as before. Then came the pandemic in 2020, prompting the decision to close down. The intention is to gradually build an archive of what it was. It will undoubtedly take time. Meanwhile, I'll be sharing the list of artists we featured, along with the covers and themes. I'll also be posting the best articles and interviews.
